Sonna Puriyathu – Tamil Movie Review

The promotional activities for the film was perhaps a major reason behind drawing us into the theatres. Sonna Puriyathu starring Mirchi Shiva and Vasundhara in lead roles is a romantic comedy that has a lot of witty lines from the actor. Not to miss the fact that the very opening scene of this films keeps you on huge laughter as he croons the Hindi version of Rosaappu song from Suryavamsam.

Mirchi Shiva enjoys his life as a dubbing artist for Hollywood and other foreign films and has no plans to get married. He perceives it to be a trap that will spoil his entire life without any freedom. All he dreams is about is buying a Volkwagan car.

When his mother theatens him on going for a long pilgrimage as a penance to get his son married, he accepts to enter wedlock with a TV anchor Anjali (Vasundhara), who happens to be a calm and innocent girl, who is too religious. But as the time pass by, they come to know about each other’s true identity. As they plot plans to stop the marriage without the attention of their parents, they find themselves married to each other after a hard night party.

The film opens with a pleasant touch as it goes on with some lively moments. Mirchi Shiva’s witty one liners stands out as the major highlight of this film. His mannerisms and body language on pars contribute a lot to the humour elements. Vasundhara does her part well in the role of an urban girl. Manobala as the owner of matrimony web portal adds to the hilarious portions.

The technical details of this film could have been better for the music and cinematography doesn’t stand well to enhance the feeling.

On the whole, Sonna Puriyathu can be watched for the comedy elements of Mirchi Shiva, while with screenplay, it could have been yet more crispy.
